Now is the time to start planning your vacation for 2012. If you want to get the best prices on flights, the earlier you book the better. It’s always best to book 6-8 months in advance, so if you haven’t booked your spring break trip, honeymoon or your summer vacation, you better get moving!
Spring Break
All-inclusive resorts are great for spring breakers because the price includes food and drinks. There’s no need to wander off the resort premises when everything is included. We have always sold Cancun, and even though Mexico has had a bad rap lately, Cancun is still a good destination for spring breakers. There are some very good hotels in the main area of Cancun, but some hotels do have restrictions on college kids. That’s why it’s important to call your travel agent and find out which resorts are good options.
Punta Cana and the Bahamas have become popular amongst students, but the Bahamas tend to be more expensive.
Honeymoons
Hawaii is the classic choice for honeymooners. Each island of Hawaii has something amazing to offer, so speak to a travel agent to find out which island is best for you. If you have the funds, Hawaii cruises make for a romantic getaway; and you won’t have to decide on one island, you can see them all.
A company that has been around since 1981 and still continues to make honeymooners happy? Sandals has resorts in many of the Caribbean Islands such as Antigua, St Lucia, and Jamaica. They are very upscale and offer many amenities, including access to 15 restaurants per resort, top shelf drinks, butler service, entertainment, scuba diving, water sports and more. You can also get married at many of their resorts which make them a good option for a destination wedding.
Punta Cana also has some beautiful resorts that are perfect for a romantic getaway. Dreams, Secrets, or Excellence have some wonderful adult-only resorts on the island.
If you want to head to Mexico, there are so many hotels in and around the Cancun Riviera Maya area, it can be hard to figure out which one will be the best one for your honeymoon. Some of our favorites are the Secrets Maroma Beach and Dreams Tulum Resort.
Graycar Travel also does wedding registries, so if you are a bride-to-be, you can register at Graycar Travel. You don’t even have to know where you want to go yet. Friends can buy the gift certificates in advance and put it towards your wedding gift.
Summer Vacation
Cruises are very big for Summer Travel. Alaska is a great cruise destination, but it books up extremely quickly for the summer. There are also cruises that go from New York and Cape Liberty NJ that go to New England and Bermuda. The Caribbean goes way down in price for the summer but then you have a problem with Hurricane season. Aruba and Barbados are some of the few areas that aren’t bothered by hurricanes in the summer.
These are some of our favorites, but remember that there are many resorts, hotels and destinations out there. The right place for you may be completely different then what’s right for another. If you need assistance figuring out where to go and where to stay, give us a call at 800-214-6723.
Great suggestions! But don’t forget about Tobago. It’s not the typical “tourist” location so you are pretty much guaranteed seclusion and romance for the perfect honeymoon!
Good Point! Where have you stayed there?
Haven’t stayed there yet, but I’m in the process of planning my destination wedding there at the Rex Hotel. I also hear that Stonehaven Villas is super romantic too.
I’m looking forward to my first trip to Tobago. I travel to it’s sister, Trinidad, frequently, but kept hearing about how romantic and serene Tobago is!
One of our agents has been there. I will have to check in with her and see where she stayed. Congrats on the engagement – destination weddings are truly a great time!
